Roderick M. Christian (January 21, 2004 - June 1, 2013)

Roderick Martin “Mighty Roderick” Christian was granted his angel wings at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Texas Children Hospital in Houston, TX. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Roderick had touched in some small way throughout his short, yet very memorable life.

He was a native of Lake Charles, Louisiana where he lived for his entire life. He was a living witness of God’s word, and an active member of Christian Baptist Church Youth Choir. Roderick was a member of kids for Jesus. Mighty Roderick attended Dolby Elementary School since kindergarten and was going to be promoted to the fourth grade for the 2013-2014 school year. He loved Math, Science, and P.E.

Mighty Roderick possessed strength, perseverance, and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With his courage he led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. Roderick’s hobbies included cooking, fishing with his dad, and swimming.

Roderick is survived by his loving parents, Roderick and Brandy Christian of Lake Charles; one brother, Braylen Anthony Christian also of Lake Charles.

Mighty Roderick’s Celebration of Life will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Christian Baptist Church in Lake Charles, La. Reverend Edward Alexander Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Lake Charles, La. under the direction of Combre Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation is will be from 1 – 3 p.m. Saturday at Christian Baptist Church.
